- The index card never says what the bakery is *for*. "Why we do this" stays unwritten on purpose — the moment it becomes a line item, every argument gets settled by quoting it.

- The thing being worked on today — this week it's oven hours, next week it's the delivery van. It moves. It is never the reason the bakery exists.

- Every other index card the bakery has written: the lease, the hiring rule, the day-old pricing. Related, readable, none of them in charge.
